What does it mean to come back to yourself?

We live in a time where I believe many of us are living in a state of deep disconnection from ourselves. From my perspective, this disconnection can have a profound impact on the way we experience life — physically, emotionally/mentally and spiritually — and may contribute to the imbalances we experience in the body.

But what does it actually mean to come back to yourself?

Remembering who you are

When we are born, we are perfect, whole and complete. We are innocent, happy and pure love. This is our essence, and I believe it is still there underneath all the interference of our conditioning. So what changes us? When did we stop cultivating this state of innocence, love and excitement for life?

The way I see it, our childhood conditioning plays a significant part in how we live our lives today. Everything we heard, saw, experienced and tried to run from can leave an imprint on us — sometimes even hardening our hearts along the way.

The more we stay in the past, focusing on the negative and heavy emotions attached to our experiences, the more disconnected we can become from who we truly are. You don't need to live in the past. But you may need to meet parts of your past before you can truly let them go.

Leaving the baggage behind

To come back to yourself means leaving some of that baggage behind.

It means forgiving yourself and others. Seeing the light within you. Believing that you have the strength to create your life from a place of love.

It means letting go of the guilt, the what ifs and the constant questioning of what could have been.

It means embracing a state of guiltlessness — because I believe this is where your power is.

The focus is on the present moment, because this is the only moment you actually have. It is the tool available to you to create your life from a more empowered place.

Maybe there is no right or wrong

Sometimes I reflect on my life and my choices, and I realise that everything we choose can ultimately lead us where we need to go for our highest good.

Maybe there is no right or wrong.

Maybe there are simply choices that lead us towards where we need to go to grow and evolve. Maybe we are all doing the best we can with our level of consciousness.

The more healing I embrace in my own life, and the more clients I support in the clinic, the more I realise that perhaps we all want the same thing.

Peace.

Love.

Hope.

Innocence.

And when I say innocence, I don't mean being naïve. I mean reconnecting with that part of ourselves that still knows how to experience life with openness, curiosity and joy.

I believe this is part of our connection to our true power.

Coming back to yourself

This is one of the reasons I see kinesiology as such a gift. Through kinesiology, we can explore and work with the mental, emotional, physical and other stressors that may be influencing how we feel and how we experience ourselves.

We all go through difficult times in life. We all carry experiences that shape us.

But perhaps the secret is not to become someone completely different.

Perhaps it is to remember who you were before all the layers accumulated.

To believe that there is still so much light and love within you.

To believe that you have the capacity to move through whatever is on your timeline.

Forgive your past.

Forgive yourself.

Forgive your family.

And embrace this state of guiltlessness.

Because perhaps this is where the connection to your true self begins.

With love, Natalia.
